Opening, book and DVD signing
On the occasion of Charlemagne Palestine's appearance at the FIAC, The Film Gallery will open "Bodyy Musicxx 2zzz," the continuation of a video-work exhibition started last winter at the Sonnabend Gallery in New York.
Charlemagne Palestine has been making music, performance, sculpture and installation since the 1960s. The videos and films in this exhibition were made across his career, from the 1970s to now. Using his body, voice and camera, Palestine creates intense moments combining ritualistic gesture and sponaneous improvisation. Running and chanting breathless through an abandoned factory, performing sacred dances in an animal cemetary, singing while motorbiking across a Newfoundland island or riding on a Coney Island rollercoaster, he creates agressive meditations on being, space and environment.
At the opening October 24th from 6-8pm, Charlemagne will sign his new book "Running n Chanting n Falling n Ranting" as well as the Re:Voir DVD "Charlemagne Palestine: The Golden Sound" by Anne Maregiano. The exhibition will run through Christmas.
October 25th at 9pm, he will appear with Simone Forti at the Auditorium du Louvre for a dance, music and voice performance under the pyramid entitled "Illlummminnnatttionnnssss"!

Vernissage, dédicaces du livre et du DVD
A l'occasion de la venue à la FIAC de Charlemagne Palestine, The Film Gallery présente "Body Musicxx 2zzz", qui vient à la suite d'une exposition vidéo commencée l'hiver dernier à la Sonnabend Gallery à New York.
Charlemagne Palestine fait de la musique, de la performance, de la sculpture et de l'installation depuis les années 60. Les vidéos et films de cette exposition ont été réalisés durant sa carrière, des années 70 à aujourd'hui. Utilisant son corps, sa voix et la caméra, Palestine crée des moments intenses combinant des gestes rituels et de l'improvisation spontanée. Courant et chantant à tue-tête à travers une usine abandonnée, exécutant des dances sacrées dans un cimetière animalier, chantant sur une moto traversant une île du Newfoundland ou embarqué sur une montagne russe de Coney Island, il crée des méditations agressives sur l'être, l'espace et l'environnement.
Au vernissage le 24 octobre de 18h à 20h, Charlemagne signera son nouveau livre "Running n Chanting n Falling n Ranting" ainsi que le DVD édité par Re:Voir "Charlemagne Palestine: The Golden Sound", par Anne Maregiano. L'exposition se tiendra jusqu'à Noël.
Le 25 octobre à 21h, il sera en représentation avec Simone Forti à l'Auditorium du Louvre pour une performance sous la pyramide incluant dance, voix et musique et intitulée "Illlummminnnatttionnnssss" !
